Dependable is term derived from the word depend. It is the adjective form of depend. It implies consistency and reliability. It means that a person or thing is worth of trust. This word is used in day to day language. For instance we often say things like that "this car is dependable', "he is a dependable man" and so on. It indicates anything on which we can trust and have previous experience about.
It means that this object or person would be of help or assistance when the need arises and wouldn't put a person in jeopardy. In a way it also indicates security or steadiness. This word is pronounced as di-'pen-d&-b&l. dependability, dependably, dependability etc are some of the other forms of this word.
