What Was The First Ice Cream?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

The first ice cream may have come from Sicily in Italy, where even today the Siclian Granita as it is called, is a popular treat .

Granita is partially frozen fruit juice or pulp with grainy ice particles in it. The most popular version is coffee in a frozen granular form, served with whipped cream, delicious! This is probably where we got our sorbets from, the Italian "semi freddo" came next when cream, nuts, eggs and other things were added, and it  was then churned in an icecream machine over ice. This method is still used in some places today, however, commercial icecream makers are available everywhere now. Italian  homemade icecream is sold all over Italy and exported around the world, in hundreds of different flavors
