A firefighter does not work regularly through out the week but is sent of home to take proper rest and sleep due to the nature of the job. Although in a whole week they are require working twenty four hours for two days and this occurs at least eight times in a month.

They get total of five holidays on an average per week for their proper rest and sleep. Otherwise they will not be able to perform well and not be alert during work. Normally after every three weeks a firefighter is given an additional day off and they can even get extra days off depending on the situation.

Instead of having long hours, a firefighter is given many off days for relaxing, thus many firefighters take advantage of this opportunity and work in other places the rest of the five days to make extra income for their family. They usually work in hospitals or work as part time ambulance drivers.

Many firefighters voluntarily work for extra days and fill in for their fellow colleagues if they are sick or need to do some thing extremely important. They are very helpful in this term and always willingly go to work instead of having a negative attitude towards work.
