Going to guitar lessons is best, as you and loads of beginners can help each other. Or you can go onto websites and print off loads of guitar songs to learn, easy then it gets harder.

To play the guitar you need to learn from the very beginning, the basics from holding the guitar to holding the plectrum (guitar pick). You can learn to play the guitar from a good guitar teacher. However before going for a guitar teacher make sure that he or she will be the one you want to learn from. To play the guitar you need to have a lot of patience as it is not an easy task to learn how to play the guitar. Whatever exercises you have been given practice them very slowly and try to play them without making mistakes. Once you are done with the simple start up exercises you can move up to playing chords and thus keep on improving.

There are also a number of guitar teaching software's available on the internet. With the help of these software's you can learn to play the guitar on your own. However it is recommended to learn from a proper guitar teacher as your basics will be clear and strong. And remember the key to become a good guitar player is to practice every lick very slow and in the proper feel.
