    - [ - (2x + 2) -1 ]

    do inside the brackets first
    the - represents a -1
       [ -1 * ( 2x + 2) -1]

    Distribute the -1

    [ (-1*2x) + (-1*2) -1]

A negative times a positive is a negative

    [ -2x + -2 -1]
    a negative minus a positive is a negative... -2-1 = -3

[-2x -3] .. This is the simplified form for what is inside the brackets.

Remember there is a - in front of the brackets.

    - [ -2x -3]

the - represents -1, and multiplication is implied.

    -1 * [ -2x -3]
    distribute the -1

    (-1 x -2x) + (-1*-3)

a negative times a positive is a positive.

    2x + 3 is you answer.
