How Much Do Male Cats Spray?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Inappropriate urination is a fairly common problem in cats.  It can be a sign of medical issues like urinary tract infections or feline lower urinary tract disease (sterile cystitis).  Inappropriate urination can be a response to stress, anxiety, or environmental changes.  Keeping the cat's routine and environment steady is key to preventing inappropriate urination.  Cats may spray to mark their territory.  Neutering male cats especially before adulthood reduces marking behavior.  Also using a pheromone diffuser like Feloway can help reduce inappropriate urination.
