It is originally termed as alma mater. It is a Latin word which means for "nourishing mother". In ancient Rome it was used as a title for the mother deity/goddess, and in Medieval Christianity she was representative of the Virgin Mary. This expression is in use from the slogan i.e. Alma Mater Studiorum which is of the oldest European university, the Bologna University, in Italy, which was founded in 1088 AD and is positioned in the metropolis of Bologna. It is chiefly spoken and heard as the term academia in the modern times. In American English, it is usually referred to as High School or Elementary school. The expression matriculation is resultant from the Latin original word mater. The term recommends that the students are fed acquaintance and taken care of by the didactic or the educational institution.
