What Do You Know About System Implementation Phase?

Answer Question

Once arrangements for delivery of computer resources have been made with one or more vendors, the system implementation phase begins. This phase includes all the remaining tasks necessary to make the system operational and successful. Implementation consists of many activities, including converting programs and data files from the old system to the new one, preparing any equipment to work in the new systems environment and training personal. Converting to anew system can take place using one or more strategies .with a direct conversion, the old  system is completely deactivated and the new system is immediately implemented a fast but extremely risky strategy.

With a parallel conversion, both systems are operated in tandem until it is determined that the new system is working correctly then the old system is deactivated. With a phased conversion, the system is implemented modularly, with each module implemented with either a director a parallel conversion. With a pilot conversion, the new system is used at only one location within the organization. After it is determined that the new system is working correctly, it is installed at the other locations. A well designed system should be flexible enough to accommodate changes over a reasonable period of time with minimal description.

Implementation means introducing a new system and there are several ways one can choose to do it:
PARALLEL implementation:Both the existing and the new system are run side-by-side,for sometimes. Results of the two systems are compared to provide both protection and control. The length of parallel operation can vary.Usually the old system is retain through one or two processing cycles with the new system.Parallel operations can provide users a chance to become comfortable with changes before old methods disappear. This method also provide an opportunity to establish the improvement of the new system. Most important of all, parallel approach, involves the least risk and the most protection of the organisation. The disadvantage of the parallel operation is that the organisation must pay the additional cost in time and labour of running both system.
PHASED implementation:In a phase transition part  of the system is put into operation throughout the organisation.Once it is working, another part or piece is installed. This phase transition continues until the whole system is in operation across the organisation. They are several other ways to implement your system namely the PILOT implementation and direct implementation.
