How Do You Start A Co-operative Business?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

When you want to start a business in the co-operative sector, you must invite all the members who are involved in the production sector who might be interested in being a part of the co-operative business model and convene a meeting and discuss topics such as what are co-operatives, what types of co-operatives are there, what business functions do co-operatives perform, what are the benefits of doing business in the co-operative sector, what are the problems and needs of the producers, how a co-operative would help solve the producers' problems and needs and is there sufficient interest among the producers to continue with the organisation of a marketing co-operative.

The next steps involve the evaluation by the survey committee, the presentation of the report by the survey committee to the co-operative producers, the election of the organising committee of the co-operative, conducting of a meeting by the members of the charter, the voting process and conducting of a meeting by the board of directors.
