How Can Gandhi's Principles Be Applied To The Middle East?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Mahatma Gandhi is most well known as the pioneer of Satyagraha. Satyagraha is the resistance of tyranny by means of mass civil disobedience and is based securely upon the principle called ahimsa, which is total non-violence. His main principles that he put forth are truth, non violence, brahmacharya, vegetarianism, simplicity and faith. In fact he gave the title 'The Story of My Experiments with Truth' to his autobiography.

In today's world of conflict, violence and bloodshed, his principles are relevant not only to the middle east but to the world. When a quick though the newspapers reveals killings, aggression, rapes and threat of war, it is obvious that we are in desperate need of another approach to life.

Without resorting to violence, Gandhi successfully led the Indian independence movement.  We could all learn something from that.
