What's The Difference Between Cardiac Arrest And Heart Attack?

Answer Question

2 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

Heart attacks (myocardial infarction) is caused by the supply of blood to the heart suffering some interruption, possibly even a blockage, which subsequently causes heart cells to die. The restriction in blood supply affects the oxygen levels in the heart which damages the heart tissue.

Cardiac arrest is different but can be caused by a heart attack. During a cardiac arrest, the blood supply to all of the body is affected not just heart tissues. This can cause serious problems such as brain damage if not treated quickly.
