As A Non-rent Stabalized Tenant, How Do I Break My Lease?
I am moving to Los Angeles in 2 weeks, but still have 1 year left on my lease in Manhattan. I have been told by the management company that as a non-rent stabalized tenant, I cannot sublease and even if I find a replacement tenant they will not rent my apartment to them because I am technically still under a lease. Therefore, they will rent out an already vacant apartment before they rent mine. Can they do this? What are my options?
