What Is Meant By The I-cord In A Sock Pattern?

I bought a book by Cat Bordhi on socks. She knits them on two circular needles. She fails to explain what I-cord is. Can you help me?

Easy! I-cord is a narrow tube of knitting, that
is often used for the handles of a bag, cords to tie on a hat, to edge a
garment, or applied on for a decorative effect. Check out knittinghelp.com
for more tips. Hope this helps! Good Day!
