1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Being overweight or obese can result in a number of health complications including high blood pressure, high blood cholesterol, hypertension, type 2 diabetes, congestive heart failure, stroke, heart disease, gout, osteoarthritis, gallstone and gallbladder disorders, certain types of cancer, poor reproductive health (especially in women), bladder control problems, psychological disorders, complications related to pregnancy etc.

Obesity and excessive weight is a growing health issue the world over. In the United States, for instance, nearly sixty-one per cent of the population is overweight and nearly one fourth of the population is today obese. The quality of life enjoyed by over weight individuals is far worse than normal individuals and the health problems associated with being overweight are a great burden on the health services and the economy.

Certain problems that are faced by overweight individuals related to cardio vascular health get further complicated if coupled with smoking and drinking.
