Can You Simplify This By Combining Like Radicals, √98-√50-√72?

Simplify by combining like radicals. All variables represent positive real numbers. See Objective 4 and Example 6. Square Root [98] - Square Root [50] - Square Root [72] Factor out all perfect squares

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

    √98-√50-√72

Make factors of each value of square root.

    √98 = √49 x √2 = 7√2

    √50 = √25 x √2 = 5√2

    √72 = √36 x √2 = 6√2

Therefore the equation will become this

    √98-√50-√72

    =7√2 - 5√2 - 6√2.

Taking √2 as common you will get

    =√2 (7 - 5 - 6)
    =√2(  -4)

    =-4√2 >>answer
