The CEO is Edward J Zander (Ed Zander) who took this position in January 2004. Before that, Motorola was a family-owned business (the previous CEO was the founder's grandson) and Zander was a managing director for the Silver Lake investment fund. He has also worked for Sun Microsystems.
Ed Zander has also recently been elected to the Board of Time Warner.
