Where Can I Find Monologues To Use At Auditions?

Answer Question

Well, first off, not those terrible monologue books, that all selectors have seen time after time after time beyond.  I know this is a revolutionary idea, but why not read some plays!? It's easy, you sit down with them for long enough, running your eyes over the words and sooner or later you are done.  This is the best way to discover the real gems of monologues hidden within little known plays, rather than trying to do the well trodden works that are now dull.

Don't write your own, unless you are an award winning writer.  Even then, they would want to see what you can do with someone else's work.

You can use the internet, some people write monologues to order for you, though this is an expensive way of getting a unique monologue, it's also a wonderful way of getting something totally original and never seen before, written directly for you.  Of course, you would not be able to answer questions relating to it, cos it's only a monologue, not from a play.
