Can Anyone Convert The Number 10001000 From Binary Number System To Decimal Number System?

Answer Question

First let me explain to you how to convert a binary value into decimal.

In the binary system, the right-most bit is called the LSB or Least Significant Bit, and the left-most bit is called the MSB or Most Significant Bit.

Each bit carries some weight based on its position.  If we start from the LSB and move toward the MSB, then the LSB bit has the weight of 2 (to the power of) 0,  the second bit has the weight of 2 (to the power of) 1 and so on up to the MSB bit.  If the bit is a zero then its value will be zero (since zero to the power of anything is zero).  The decimal value is actually the sum of the weights of all bits that are 1.

Now, you asked the decimal of: 10001000

If we follow the rules stated above, and convert this into weight format it will look like this:

    2(power of) 7 + 0 + 0 + 0 + 2(power of) 3 + 0 + 0 + 0

    2(power of) 7 = 128
    2(power of) 3 = 8

    So the answer is : 128 + 8 =   136

Hope this answers your question and clears how it was converted.
