If you stick your nose on his back and if it is healthy and clean, it smells very nice (maybe you want to kiss it then). If its cage is dirty, then may be it smells urine.
If it smells very bad (be sure of what means bad) then may be there are health problems

Hi its because hamsters pee ALOT so maybe you should clean the cage more often,oh and is your hamster in good shape cause maybe if you contact me if you want ,are hamsters can mate. P.s oh my hamsters a syrian female!
