What Is Yang?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Yang is the opposite of Yin. It provides the counterbalance effect to everything that the Yin symbolizes. Yin and Yang form the basis of Chinese philosophy and beliefs. The interesting aspect is that they are not only opposites but also interdependent.

If one is the beginning then the other is the end. If Yin is the day then Yang is the night but one would not be able to differentiate or appreciate day and night if either of them were absent. Yin and Yang form the two ends of every spectrum. The spectrum may be small or large as long as there are two ends to it, there will always be Yin and Yang.

Even if you consider a point in a plane, the point will have a beginning and an end depending on what perspective you choose. As a result of being part of the same spectrum, a decrease in one will lead to a proportionate increase in the other.
