    Charles Joseph Whitman was born on the 24th of June in the year 1941 in Lake Worth, Florida, United States of America. He was basically an American mass murderer who is also known as the Texas Sniper. He was responsible for the deaths of his wife, his mother and 13 other people at the University of Texas at Austin in the year 1966. As a child Whitman was very normal and a bright student. He excelled in his studies and participated in various activities. He also listed in the United States Marines and served over seas. When he got discharged he moved to the University of Texas and was working part time and was studying as well.

    Whitman's parents got divorced and his mother moved away with him. He was living in Texas with his wife and his mother was settled there as well. He was very frustrated and depressed due to his family situation and often used to visit the University Physiatrist. A day before the shootings he purchased a knife from a store and then picked up his wife and mother from work. Later that night he killed both of them by stabbing them and wrote a note in which he explained his actions. The next day he bought some shot guns and cases and moved to the tower of the University. Once there he started shooting people at random. He killed 13 people before he was gunned down by the police. He was killed on the 1st of August in 1966.

      Charles Whitman, whose full name was, Charles Joseph Whitman was born on June June 24, 1941. He lives till August 1, 1966, when he was 25 years old. Charles Whitman was a student of the University of Texas at Austin. He was the man who shot and murdered 13 people and wounded another 31 people. He climbed the top of  27 story building of the University of Texas, at Austin and did the shootings from atop the University's 27-story tower. The incident happened on August 1, 1966. That same day he was host by Austin police, while he was still engaged in the shooting. Thus he died at the hands of the police at the age of twenty five.

      Whitman had killed both his wife and his mother the night before the shootings. Including those two murders some accounts claim that he murdered a total 16 or 17 victims. According to these courses there was a later suicide that occurred as a result of the attacks of Charles Whitman. Also among the victims was a pregnant woman, Claire Wilson. She miscarried because she was shot by Charles Whitman. Counting his mother, wife, the suicide victim, the baby that was miscarried, and the people killed during the shootings, Charles Whitman killed total of 16 or 17 people.
