How Do You Get Internet Access?

           You need a personal computer or a lap top to get an internet connection. But these days one can access the internet over ones phone as well. An ISP or internet service provider provides users with an internet connection. This is provided either over the phone lines or over cable wires. Dial up connections use a modem which connects to the PC and has a speed of around 56Kbps.

           Cable internet or broadband provide speeds that are higher than this and use a LAN card which fixes into the PCI slot f the motherboard to function. Typical speeds are 128 to 256 Kbps. Then there are wireless connections that require wireless routers and adaptors but do away with the need of wiring entirely. Certain basic software such as explorer to surf the internet and related multimedia hardware and software are also sometimes necessary.
