I am a MEXICAN myself, and had lived 13 years in Mexico and I can tell you most of the pros and cons of Mexico and its people (I don't live there anymore).
First, Mexico is a vast country (ranking the 15th most large country in the world) and has approximately 110 million people.
Unfortunately, Mexico belongs to the "Third World" category, partly because its severe poverty among the lower social classes.
About the people?? As there are some bad-intentioned persons, there are a lot of grateful and nice individuals. The truth is that if you show yourself friendly, support and help other people, and if you're a nice person to deal with, anywhere in the world you'll be likely to find good people.
Generally, Mexicans tend to be more family-oriented than other Westerners. You'll find people talking about their grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and even more extended relatives more frequently than you'll ever hear up in the US or Canada.
Another fact is, for example, most people in America will have a brother, sister, parents or any family they know living in very different regions (Washington, California, Virginia, and further distances). In Mexico some families are more likely to live close to each other. If not in the same city or state, at least somewhere nearby. Ironically, every person in Mexico has known or know someone who have lived or is currently living in the United States.
What I think overall, is that each person has the right of preferring some specific place to live, regardless of the people. Good persons will make friends everywhere.
