Your landlord first should give you a certain time (usually 3–5 days) in which to pay the rent (and any late fees specifically listed in a written rental agreement) before giving an eviction notice. Now you have chance to answer on the papers that are served. Your answer must be by the local court rules and state law. Your answer to court will decide your fortune in retaining the house.
