How Do You Celebrate Halloween?

Since we Japanese do not have Halloween, I'm curious to know. Is it like in the movie, lots of parties?

You will probably receive many different answers as there is no certain way to celebrate these days. Personally I have no celebration, do not decorate, do not issue treats. Sometime ago we began having problems with unsafe treats given to our children and that has led many to gather with well known friends, church families etc. To have a community controlled party to diminish the possibility of abuse through treats, and traffic accidents involving trick or treaters. Another reason some may not celebrate is for religious reasons. Some watch their homes, turning the outside lights off to signal they are not participating in handing out treats. These lightless homes are usually the target of tricks.

In the United States, we celebrate Halloween just like in the movies!
We invest tons of money into our perfect costumes, sexy, scary or sweet! We go to and throw Halloween parties and most of the theme parks like Busch Gardens, Disney and Universal have haunted houses set up that people pay to go through! We all watch scary movies, carve pumpkins, some go Trick-or-Treating, ect...
Halloween here, is one of the best holidays in the year and for me, its looked forward to more than Christmas.
Seriously, I feel terrible for people who don't celebrate it.
It must be a total bummer!

    But in a simple answer:
Even though movies do not tend to tell the truth, in America, it is exactly (if not more appreciated) like the movies you have probably seen.

I decorate the yard with fake gravestones, hang ghost and spiders from the trees, put jack-o-lanterns all over. All kinds of neat stuff. Not to many kids trick or treat in my area. So I dress up real scary and walk around the neighborhood. I wish you could have as much fun.

To this day I dress-up and trick-or-treat! I get asked aren't you a little old for this quite a bit, and I always answer no, but apparently you are! Lol

I celebrate Samhain/Halloween in my own way. I'm an eclectic Wiccan/pagan, solitary practitioner; I light candles, incense, give thanks to the Gods for the good in my life, ask for help in the coming year, whatever feels right for me. I do that a lot of times throughout the year, though. :-) I'm just happy to see people still have fun on that day without calling its origins evil/demonic!

I find people that do that questionable! It's a day of fun, scary fun but worshiping the Devil is just plain asinine. Perhaps the people that have such fears have something else they are trying to hide in my opinion. I remember it as a day as a child I always looked forward to and the adults that participated made it all the more fun and exciting. I attempt to repay what made the day special for me by doing what made it fun for me! I love the day and the "Spirit" of it so to speak! Lmao

Some have parties my fiance once had a Halloween party and you honestly couldn't cram another person in his place. My sisters kids go trick -or -treating, some just like to decorate and hand out candy and some don't even participate in the festivities at all.
