The presence or absence of some attributes in qualitative data and counting the number of those who possess it and of those who do not possess it is called statistics of attributes.
For example, in a given population it can be counted the number of blinds and seeings or the number of deaf and non-deaf or the number of tall and dwarfs. In all such cases the data are such that a fairly accurate quantitative measurement is possible. Classification of the data: The classification of the data relating to attributes is made on the basis of presence of absence of particular attributes in the population. If for exam, attention is paid to one attribute say, sex, when the whole population would be divided into two complimentary classes, one consisting of those who are males and other consisting of those who are females. If more than one attribute are to be noted then the number of classes would also increase accordingly. For example, if attribute blindness is to be studied, then the population would further be sub-divided into "blind males", " blind females"," not blind females". If some more attributes are to be noted, the process classification can be continued indefinitely.
