What Process Requires Power?
Effect of power shortages on production of industries such as petroleum. Eg Caltex, coal at sasol or steel at mittal steel/Arcelor Mittal

All industrial processes require power. There is an increasing demand in most countries these days so resultantly mass consumerism has lead to a shortage in the energy sector. So from a businessman's point of view every power cut would mean lost hours of production. There's many employees an industry has which are paid on a monthly basis regardless of the objectives met. That in turn affects your profit margins. The repercussions in the end are that you have a disgruntled business community. Many factories do have in-house generators for producing electricity but its comparatively more expensive. In places where energy production is dependent on fossil fuels there is yet another challenge to be met with escalating fuel prices. I hope that answers your question.
