Look at your last bank statement and deduct all cheque payments you have written and any regular standing orders. Some cheques might not have been cashed yet but you have to take them into account to know the true balance in your bank. Also remember banks charge very high interest rates if you get an overdraft.

Call the bank. They will ask for your personal bank id. Then they will tell you your balance. It's YOUR money.
