Do I Have A Slander Case? I Have Former Employees Stating That I Engaged In Sexual Misconduct With Them And Illegal Drug Use. What Do I Do?
I manage 6 locations in NJ and have been informed that 2 former employees have stated that I have performed sexual acts, as well as engaged in illegal drug use. This is the 2nd time in 8 months these specific individuals have made accusations inside of my locations. 1 was terminated due to behavioral issues, the other resigned due to better career opportunities. They are known friends. This last "rumor" was spread 24hrs after another "friend" was terminated due to behavioral issues.Reputation has a lot to do with the integrity of the position. What do I do?
It is only "slander" if coworkers, clients/customers, or bosses are willing to testify that they heard about it and you can prove that they spread it, and that it is untrue.
