How Was Popcorn First Invented?

Answer Question

2 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

Just a guess but:  Popcorn was not invented, it was discovered.  The effect of popping is a result of the small amount of water inside the kernel reaching the boiling point.  The steam this creates forces its way out…making the pop you hear.  In the process it cooks the contents of the kernel.  Corn is native to the Americas and was grown here long before any visits by people from Asia, Africa, or Europe.  The natives of the Americas are probably the ones who made discovered popcorn.  I’m sure it’s thousands of years old.

It was the Native American Indians that showed it to the white settlers. Hope this helps, good luck.

Because they were making it for so long, and because the Natives didn't keep records of that, there is no way to tell. That is what I was saying.
