It depends on your diagnosis. My grandmother had it but since they caught it early they were able to save her. She's still with us today.

Your cancer oe the cancer of the person you are inquiring about will be "staged". You will be given a diagnosis of Stage 1 - 4. The lower the number, the better the prognosis. I was diagnosed and treated with stage 1 breast cancer 11 years ago and am still going strong. I see no reason not to just assume I will die eventually and it may or may not be from cancer. None of us ever know... Even with a stage 4 diagnosis, your time is undetermined. Try to just take it one day at a time. Make a list of questions to take to your Dr's office. It does not matter how silly they may sound... It is your right to have full details. As I got into chemo, I started asking a friend to go to Dr visits with me as my memory was effected... Plus it can be a nervous time and a second set of ears is very helpful. I wish you the best of luck.
