No good reason, except as a base for further space exploration and so, China, etc won't be the only country who has a base there. Whichever country can fire weapons from the Moon has a distinct advantage in modern warfare...

I think mainly cos it would be very interesting :) and there would be great views, not much gravity, which would be more fun than Earth, but I don't think we should colonize the moon, cos it would waste billions and billions of pounds, and we would destroy something that's beautiful and hasn't been touched since the creation of the universe by any living creature, so I think we should let the moon be.
