Why Do People Drive In The Left Lane Of A Four Lane Road, Going Under The Speed Limit, Letting Traffic Back Up For Miles And Would Die First Before Moving Over So You Could Get Around Them To Drive Faster?

Answer Question

    Two possibilities:

    1. They are just not thinking. They are afraid of driving and have no idea of what they are really doing.

    2. They think that by staying in the left lane and driving slow that they are really making the road safer by blocking everyone.

And all considerations of laws aside there is such a thing as common sense. If other drivers want to fly by at 120 mph you should let them. Driving in the right lane at a reasonable and proper speed is the safest thing to do.

      Hi..
This is why I'm asking the question, people really do this...I'm just wondering what their thinking...It has to do alot with courtesy...When I'm out cruising I stay in the right lane to keep the left lane clear for emergency vehicles, or someone turning left, or for someone who needs to drive the speed limit or for some who chooses to break the limit 5 miles or so over...

Like i asked are they really doing this or are they actually following the posted speed limit signs..see i am probably one of these people because i use cruise control to drive which keeps my vehicle at the exact speed limit but i have people come up behind me blowing their horns because they think i should break the law so they can go faster than the posted speed limit.which if we were pulled over they would be getting the citations because they were tale gating and showing road rage...

So the short answer is i have just as much right as anyone else on the road to drive in the left lane at the posted speed limit. Anything above that is breaking the law no matter how the rest of society looks at it....see i run into people like you all the time and you are the ones that are breaking the laws and causing traffic accidents because you fail to follow the rules of the road and then wonder why your up on someones bumper in the left lane all the time.: ) later

They can drive in any lane they want so long as they are doing the speed limit. Somewhere down the line the left lane or any other lane beside the right lane has been considered the fast lane when in reality the number of lanes is to allow for the amount of traffic flow at the busiest time. No laws broken here. Granted if a person is doing 55 in the left lane and the speed limit is 70 then that person is fair game and i will ride that persons ass. Because of the new road rage laws, driving 55 in a left lane when the speed limit is 70 but the average speed is 75 that person will be responsible for causing road rage. You know who you are and get the hell out of the left lane or suffer the consequences.

Because they are nervous drivers who have a driving license but hardly every drive unless they have to The trouble is you can pass your test at 17 but never drive again till later on in life
then you go out on the roads not knowing what you are doing
