How Should I Plan To Build My Aviary?

I_would_like to build an aviary sometime. Mainly for finches (exotic, zebra, etc) and i live in Michigan so the weather is crappy. How and what kind of aviary and materials should i use to make this? I would like to have an out doors one, and the main purpose would be for breeding and just having a cool community of birds to look at. I was kind of thinking of building an outdoor aviary in doors (building outside that holds the aviary inside) to over come the weather issues. Any suggestions or hints/tips would really help.

If the aviary is indoors, you need to consider how much space they need, and what level of heat and light. Then consider environment enrichment - such as perches, shelters, nest boxes. They will also need watering and feeding stations. They will appreciate a bath, either dust or water, but preferably both.
Then you need to consider your home - how often you will have to clean up droppings, and clear dropped feathers and debris.
Some people are prone to develop asthma if they share a home with birds, so you may need to consider that as well.
Lastly - which room will you put them in? They will cheep and twitter, which is annoying if you are trying to work or watch tv, and they will not like you playing loud music.
