There are three forms of Network Topologies:
1) Star Topology
2) Ring Topology
3) Buss Topology
In "Star Topology" each Node (System) is connected to central hub that provides services and communication to all the connected nodes. Every node sends messages to central hub with source and destination address. The hub sends messages to its destination.
In "Ring Topology" each node is connected to its next node forming a ring shape, in this topology nodes directly communicate with each other. Messages are sent with source and destination addresses the node whose address matches the destination address accepts the message; others discard it.
In "Bus Topology" each node is connected to central Bus which is in turn connected to the hub. Nodes send data over Bus with destination address. Bus transmits it to destination nodes.

Types of network topologies:
The term "topology" in the context of a communications network determines the data paths that may be used between any pair of stations of the network. The logical layout or shape of a network is called a topology. The main network topologies are as follows:
1.Bus network: In this method, all nodes share single transmission medium. All the computers are attached to the same line and each node monitors activity on the line. Messages are detected by all the nodes but are accepted only by the nodes to which they are addressed.
2.Star topology: A star network is one in which all other communication devices are connected to a central server. In a star configuration computer network, there is a host computer, which is attached to local computers through multiple communication lines. The local computers are not linked to each other and can communicate only via the host computer.
3.Ring topology: A ring network is one in which all computes and other devices are connected in a continuous loop.
4.Mesh network: A completely connected network has a separate physical link for connecting each node to any other node. Thus each computer of such network has a direct dedicated link, called a point-to-point link with all other computer of the network.
5.Hybrid network: Hybrid network consist of different topologies such as ring, star, mesh etc.

The configuration or layout of a network formed by the connections between devices on a LAN (local area network) or between two or more LANs so we call it topology. There are five types of topologies i.e
Bus topology:
A physical layout of a LAN where all nodes are connected to a single cable.
Ring topology:
A network configuration that connects all nodes in a logical ring-like structure.
Star topology:
A network configuration where each node is connected by a single cable link to a central location, called the hub.
Token ring topology:
Network communications architecture in which only the workstation which currently has the token may transmit data (token = continuous control message which is transmitted from station to station)
Tree topology:
A topology for a local area network (LAN) in which one machine is connected to one or more other machines, each of which is connected to one or more others, and so on, so that the structure formed by the network resembles that of a tree.
Bus topology:
A physical layout of a LAN where all nodes are connected to a single cable.
Ring topology:
A network configuration that connects all nodes in a logical ring-like structure.

Token ring topology:
