Have You Ever Eaten Pickled Beets?
My hubby loves beets, I can only eat them about once every 10 years. Lol

I'm with you, dear....I don't eat beets--maybe it stems from the fact that my Dad was not too keen on them and thus, Mom never served them. Maybe it's time to re-introduce myself to 'the beet'.

My mom used to make pickeled everything -- beets, watermelon rinds, etc. I never liked any of them. But I loved the pickled eggs she made with sliced beets and beet juice at Easter. No spices, just beets, beet juice and vinegar. It's now a tradition for the Easter dinner that the family has each year. I'm the one that makes them, though, since she passed away.

These are one of the things that you are forced to eat as a kid. Have never, will never, eat one as an adult.

There are some foods that were forced on me as a child. Pickled beets was one of them. Despite--or because--of that, I have developed a liking for pickled beets. The local food market makes a very good pickled beet salad with onions, nuts, and some sort of dressing.

Pickled beets (beets in general) are one of the very best foods for you. The red colorant has some effect (affect) on your retinal workings (your eyesight) any of the foods that have hearty color are good for you.

There are only 2 types of food I can honestly say I detest . Those are Liver and beets. I think it stems back to my childhood when beets were forced on me ,pickled or otherwise harvard beets EEEUUUUCCCHHH!

I love beets, especially pickled. At salad bars when they have sliced beets, I get a big serving and pour thousand Island dressing all over them. The pink against the red is so beautiful and they taste so yummy that way!

In my opinion, the only way any kind of beets are good is the juice in horseradish for coloring. I have to admit I do force me and my family to eat them, but I cheat. I either put them in a fruit/vegetable smoothie or puree them and add to meatloaf or spaghetti sauce that way we can't taste them.

Oh yes, I've had pickled beets and I hate them. My mother made me eat them when I was a kid. Now I can't tolerate the smell.

Yes! I like them too!
I had a dog that would eat everything else first and that beet the very last thing! If you put it on top of his food like a cherry!
I won money on that too!
