    Meryl Streep received the lifetime achievement award from the American Film Institute, this was in 2004.
    For her role in "Angels in America" -Outstanding lead actress in a miniseries she got awards from the Screen Actors Guild, American Film Institute and the Emmy in 2004.
    She received The Golden Globe and Prestige Award for Best Supporting Actress in the Film "Adaptation" in 2003.
    She shared the Silver Berlin Bear in 2003 for the film "The Hours".
    She received the Gotham Award for lifetime Achievement in 1999.
    She received the Funniest Actress award in 1991 at the American Comedy Awards.
    The Cannes Film Festival, Australian Film Institute and New York Film Critics Circle awarded her the Best Actress award in 1989 and 1988 for "A Cry in the Dark".
    In 1986 and 1985 the David di Donatello award in the category of Best Foreign Actress.
    In 1982 and 1983 she received for the film "Sophie's Choice", an Academy Award, a Golden Globe and awards from the New York, Los Angeles and National Societies of film critics for best actress. The same awards were given earlier in 1979 and 1980 for her role in "Kramer vs. Kramer".
    In 1979 she received the Best Supporting Actress from the National Society of Film Critics.
    Her first Emmy for the role in "Holocaust" in 1978 and the Theatre World Award in 1975-76 was her first ever award which was given for the Play "27 Wagons Full of Cotton".
    Also the People's Choice Award for favourite Motion Picture Actress in 1990, 1989, 1987, 1986, 1985 and 1984.
