How Do I Manage To Eat 5 Portions Of Fruit And Vegetables Every Day? It's Impossible!

Answer Question

Not really impossible, but you may need to think a bit more about what you're eating, or do a little deliberate planning.

Do you like dried fruits?  Raisins or cut up apricots/dates/figs/other dried fruit go well with breakfast cereal or porridge.

Do you like fruit juices?  Choose these over fizzy drinks, or just have some as a habit each morning.

What about coleslaw (shredded cabbage and carrots) or baked beans with a jacket potato for lunch?  Creamy vegetable soup, such as tomato (made from fresh tomatoes, not the powdered stuff!) also counts, as would a handful of cucumber, carrots or mushrooms.  Buy some humous or sour cream as a lunch time dip with the fresh veg.  The humous is mostly pureed chickpeas, so can also count as a serving.

Most people like at least two cooked vegetables. Frozen peas or fresh carrots are easy to prepare and cook, and they go with many supper dishes.

Keep in mind that it needs to be at least five different fruit or vegetables, and only one serving of fruit juice, one serving of dried fruit, and one serving of legumes/beans counts towards the total.
