Acetone is a form of Ketone and is a colorless, mobile, flammable liquid. It serves as a solvent in most of the cases. It is also used to make nail polish remover, plastic, fibers, drugs etc. The Molecular formula of Acetone is CH3COCH3. The condensed structural formula of acetone can be seen at the link below:

Good answer, I would just point out that when writing up my work as an organic syntheitc chemist I used the notation (CH3)2CO for acetone. Short and sweet and can only be one things.
