When Can You Move A Gardenia Plant?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Spring or early summer would be the best time to move your gardenia.
Just be careful to dig wide around the plant before moving and try not to disturb the root system too much. Be sure you dig the proper size hole in the new location, ( lots of room on all sides), and add a little water to hole before replanting. Push the dirt in nice and firm around the plant once you have it replanted.
It may go into shock for a couple of weeks once you have replanted. If so, it will look a little droopy, but it will soon perk up once it gets used to the new location.
