First of all, you seem to be under the impression that it is not possible to claim a pension while earning income from employment. This is not so. You are perfectly entitled to go on working while claiming your state pension and the amount you receive through your pension will not be affected by the amount you earn from work.

There is no deadline for claiming your state pension. In fact, if you wait some time before claiming your pension after you are eligible to do so, the amount of money you receive when you do eventually claim it increases. If you wait more than 12 months before making your pension claim after you were initially eligible to do so, you have the option of either getting a higher weekly amount in your pension or getting an immediate lump sum payment instead.
