Shop-bought deodorants are usually only good for protecting you if you do not sweat a lot. They control the odour producing bacteria but generally only work in dry conditions. Unfortunately, some people are prone to sweating quite a lot either naturally, through embarrassment, under stress or during exercise. This is often bad news as even the top selling deodorants sometimes fail to work.

One thing you can try is cutting out a lot of processed food in your diet. All processed food and drink can contribute to your sweat levels so eating healthier is recommended. Not all deodorants are antiperspirants so make sure you are buying one that is. Antiperspirants really do help to control your sweat production and the main ingredient in them is aluminium based. This aluminium absorbs into the openings of the sweat glands, and this usually causes the sweat glands to swell and close up. Hence, the sweat stays in the glands for longer and you have nice dry armpits.

Overall it is best to experiment with different antiperspirants. Different antiperspirants work for different people so try out as many as possible until you find the right one for you!
