Are All Car Insurance Companies Rip Off?

I have been driving for 20 years and I had my very first prang the other week when I was stuck behind another car in traffic lights and I pranged his bumper causing a few very very very small scratches but I smashed my passenger side headlight which cost me £130 to get repaired in a local garage. I have just received my renewal insurance quote and it has gone from £280 to £492,I knew it may go up slightly but this is just a total rip off. It also states I only have 2 years no claims bonus. Why is this as surely I should have 20 years no claims bonus. I have not been reimbursed for my headlight which I paid for myself and my insurance company are not telling me if this other person has claimed as I admitted at scene of crash I was in the wrong and it was my fault. I had no courtesy car provided,which I knew about but am just letting everyone know the full facts and was also told to write my car off as it would cost over £600 to get it repaired. Are these people from another planet. Can someone please try and answer some of the questions and does anyone know apart from confused.com,gocompare and comparethemarket any other good websites where I can find insurance.
