Edward de Bono (born 1933) is a complex character. Whilst he is primarily a doctor, psychologist and a philosopher, he has also contributed a great deal to the world of business through training and various books which he has written.
He is, however, possibly best known for his concept of 'lateral thinking' which he has pioneered. This concept is one which encourages people to stop making assumptions, to keep their minds (and hearts) open and to look at things differently. But most importantly to think about things differently.
He has also written extensively on both positive and creative thinking and how businesses should use both these ways of thinking to their advantage in all types of business, rather than just media or advertising.
He designed and is the leader of the CoRT Thinking programme, which is the most widely used method for teaching the skill of thinking in schools. He currently lives in Venice, but works internationally.
