My Landlord Wants To Increase Our Rent By Nearly $300 Per Month This Is An Increase Of Approx. 30 % Is This Legal ?
We received a letter placed in our mailbox by our landlord not notarized or anything stating she was giving us a 2 month notice of a 30% increase in rent but then it contradicted itself by saying the increase would start next month. Can she legally increase the rent this much at one time ? We have no written agreement only verbal.

Rent increases can be very stressfull. Unfortunately with no written tenancy agreement you dont have anything to fall back on. 30% to me does sound very high and in my experiences of renting I have never known it to be that high. If you dont feel comfortable with this increase I would suggest to look for somewhere else to live. With no signed tenancy agreement your landlord is intitled to raise the rent to whatever they desire.

Depending on the jurisdiction you live in there may be laws controlling the amount that your rent can be raised. Please add a comment to this answer and let me know at least what state you are in so that I can try and get you a better answer.
