The Mall of America sometimes referred to as MOA or the Megamall, is the name of a shopping mall which is situated in the suburb of Bloomington in Twin Cities, Minnesota. Right across the street towards the north of the mall there is an IKEA superstore. The mall is situated to the southeast of the junction of Interstate 494 and the Minnesota State highway 77. It is situated across the interstate from the Saint Paul International Airport.
At the time of its opening in the year 1992, the mall was the second largest shopping mall in the country as well as the world. Even though there are now much bigger shopping malls present around the world in countries such as Turkey, India, Canada, Malaysia etc, it still continues to be the shopping mall which attracts the most number of visitors than any mall in the world, the number coming up to approximately forty million visitors every year.
