John Fitzgerald Kennedy was 43 years old when he was elected America's 35th President in 1960.He was the youngest and the very first Roman-Catholic President that the United States had ever had. One of the many things that John F Kennedy is remembered for were his fiery debates with Richard Nixon, one of the most famous Republican candidates. Born to Irish Catholic immigrant parents who had settled in Brookline, Massachusetts on the 29th of May,1917 Kennedy went on to enter Princeton and Harvard University.
He later served in the US Navy during Second World War; a brave but brief stint which lasted a short four years. Soon after he went on to represent the city of Massachusetts at the House of Representatives as well as the Senate. In one of America's most memorable elections, Kennedy was elected President in 1960. His regime witnessed some of the most significant events in history: the Bay of Pigs, the Cuban Missile Crisis, the American Civil Rights Movement to name a few. Kennedy was assassinated by a man named Lee Harvey Oswald in Dallas in 1963 while driving through a motorcade.
