The La Mare de Carteret School basically is a post- 11 secondary school located on the island of Guernsey based in the Channel Islands, positioned close to Castel parish.

The school serves children between the ages eleven to sixteen. The Channel Islands basically are a cluster of British-dependent islands found near the shore of Normandy, France, in the English Channel. They include two divided nations, the bailiwick of Guernsey and the bailiwick of Jersey. The total population of this region was estimated at 160,000.

The colonized islands of the Channel Isles are Jersey, Guernsey, Alderney, Sark, Herm, Jethou, Brecqhou and Lihou. These Islands were taken over by the Dutch of Normandy in the year 933. In the year 1066 the Duke William the Conqueror occupied and conquered England, becoming the English monarchy.
