What Are The Benefits Of SSDI Over Long Term Disability Insurance?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Some of the benefits of SSDI over long term disability insurance are as follows:

    • Social Security gives a standard monthly payment that complements several existing disability benefits already accepted. It also gives yearly price of living raises. A segment of these benefits may be free of tax.
    • Irrespective of the age of a person when he or she gets the SSDI benefits for 2 years i.e. 24 months then they are entitled for Medicare as well including both hospital as well as medical benefits.
    • If a person is entitled or eligible to Medicare then they are also entitled for Medicare Part D i.e. the new prescription treatment plan.
    • If an individual gets Social Security disability benefits then any COBRA  Act of 1985 benefits range can also expanded from 18 to 29 months.
    • During a person's period of disability, his Social Security disability right freezes Social Security income records. Because those days will not be considered when calculating prospect benefits and thus their Social Security retirement benefits will be high.
    • If a person gets Social Security disability benefits and they also have a dependent who is under 18 year of age then he or she might also be entitled for these benefits.
    • Social Security offers a disable person an opportunity to go back to work although still paying him disability benefits.
