    The worlds first steam train railway locomotive to run on rails was designed and built by Cornish born RICHARD TREVITHICK and Welsh craftsmen at the Pen-y-Darren ironworks in MERTHYR TYDFIL,WALES.Built in 1803 it made it's first public appearance on the 21st Feb 1804 hauling 10 tons of iron and about 70 passengers over a distance of 9 1/2 miles (15 Kilometers).
    A working replica of the PENYDARREN LOCOMOTIVE can be seen at the Industrial museum, Swansea,WALES
